If you are looking for something to add to your Christmas traditions or a great Christmas gift, then Peace is for you! We added this to our Christmas reading and we have thoroughly enjoyed it as a family.

We were new to celebrating Advent and family worship, and Peace was a great way to start both! It has a lesson on Advent for each Sunday leading up to Christmas. So not too much for beginners! It also was packed with beautiful illustrations, hymns & carols, as well as history and of course talking about why we celebrate Christmas and Advent!

If you already have an Advent reading plan you love, Peace would still make for a great addition to read leading up to Christmas! The first chapter entitled “Peace Child” is one of my favorite parts of the book, though it’s hard to settle on just one part. This whole book is amazing! Stephen Nichols does such a wonderful job drawing our attention to the promised Child that so many looked forward to prior to Jesus’ birth and that we reflect on each year at this time. It was so heart warming to have our daughter chime in and say things like “They were waiting on Jesus” while we read this book!

We also really love history in our home, and Stephen Nichols always does such a fantastic job of incorporating, explaining, and discussing history in his books. From Christmas church traditions to the Christmas Truce of WWI, so much is touched on in Peace! For homeschoolers, this book would be a great way to incorporate both history themed around Christmas during this time of year!

There are so many quotes from men of the Faith who have gone on to glory. Most of these quotes I had never heard before, but they were so encouraging! And Peace includes many writings from these men on the passages of Scripture relating to Christ’s first Advent as well as general thoughts and writings. I truly loved how the Story of Christmas was broken up into 3 parts with carols, hymns, Scripture, and writings throughout each section, making such a rich, powerful, and well rounded presentation. It’s the most unique way I have ever seen the Story of Christmas presented and written about and we absolutely loved every bit of it.

Now, I’ll stop gushing cause I’m sure you know by now just how much we LOVE this book! Again, Peace would make an amazing Christmas gift or a great new Christmas tradition. Merry Christmas and Soli Deo Gloria!
