We are huge fans of RefToons! You have probably noticed we love to share their work on our social media pages. Well, our daughter also loves to draw and loves their illustrations. We actually purchased their how to draw book titled Draw with RefToons to help her with her drawing lessons! And while on their site, that’s when we saw they had come out with an illustrated Baptist Catechism book we were thrilled and knew we had to add it to our library as soon as possible!

We had been looking for a good catechism book that would work well for our family and this one takes the cake! The illustrations are fantastic of course and go along with the question and answer so well. I love how it’s broken down into sections so if we are doing a deeper study as a family, we can pull it out and flip to the section that goes along with our study.

The questions and answers are short enough that 6-7 year olds are able to begin memorizing them.

Catechism has historically been used by the church to teach biblical truths to children, but in more recent times has fallen by the way side. We are excited to see a bit of a resurgence in its use! And it’s by far one of our favorite methods for teaching our daughter doctrine and theology. And we learn from it too since we were not catechized as kids.

And for anyone who would prefer a different catechism, have no fear because RefToons has an illustrated Westminster Catechism coming out too!

RefToons also has a few other books they have done or worked on. We have read and reviewed both the Poetic Pilgrim’s Progress as well as Paul’s Big Letter that Paul Cox from RefToons illustrated. We love their work and recommend all of their work, including this illustrated catechism!
